:: Blue Saffron Broadband MAX ™

Broadband Speeds Up to 8Mb

Background

The nature of broadband internet access is changing; content is becoming richer, the demands on broadband infrastructure becoming more intense. Demand for data in the past six months has doubled, creating a massive shift in the characteristics of the services now required.

The industry is keeping apace. There is a clear technology roadmap that will continue to extend the broadband throughput of the basic copper connection that connects almost all business premises.

ADSL Max represents this next technology step in increasing and uncapping raw connection potential. It is hoped that by 2010 speeds of up to 52 Mbps over short distances might be feasible.

What is ADSL Max?

ADSL (short for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) Max is not a new type of Broadband product. It is actually a marketing name that has been adopted for a range of products that attempt to maximize the available throughput on a line.
These new products offer -

Both the downstream and upstream are "rate adaptive" - meaning the customer premises ADSL modem will communicate with the exchange hardware and negotiate the best possible speed for your specific line.

Ultimately the speed at which the line will run will be a function of both line quality and distance from an exchange.

Its a competitive market, there are a myriad suppliers but businesses must choose their providers carefully. Increasingly purveyors of residential services are attempting to blur the boundaries between business and consumer offerings. Blue Saffron remain a business focused provider delivering the latest in available technology without compromising the high quality service that our customers demand.

How can my company signup for ADSL Max?

Firstly a check is made on the service availability at the local exchange. The provisioning process assuming a simple regrade scenario takes 5-7 working days. Data collection then occurs for a minimum period of 10 days to assess and adjust connection speeds. Retraining of the connection speed can sometimes occur throughout the life of the product.
